Tournament Time

Local tournament play begins in April, following a month or more of practice and game preparation, with Ranger teams participating in weekend tournaments around the Valley. One of the largest and most prominent early events is the AAU State Qualifier in early May. By June, out-of-state play begins, generally with participation in a California tournament, as well as several local events.

July is the month for extensive travel for the varsity team, when the high-profile events begin in states that host the tournaments that draw large numbers of college coaches. This is the time the Club dedicates to getting recognition for our sophomores and juniors who hope to go on after high school to play in a college program.

The number of games each season depends on the tournament schedule and how successful the teams are in each event. Generally, we expect our teams to play 25-30 games during the course of a season. A preliminary tournament schedule is presented to the parents when they consider committing their daughters to the Rangers program.

FUN AT THE GAMES: The 16-Under squad displays the bronze medals
the girls won at last year’s Grand Canyon State Games.

THE REALTHING: Some of the Rangers basketball players stop in the
town center park in Prescott to have their picture taken with actual
Arizona Rangers. The team was in Prescott last summer to play in
the Beat The Heat tournament, and went on to win their division in the annual event.
